Toru Kodama, native Japanese, is a licensed acupuncturist in the state of California and in Japan. He was born in Yokohama, Japan, and started his career as a banker after received BA in International business from Aoyama Gakuin University. Although he had many customers as a financial advisor, he desired a more direct and personal communication with people.
He decided to become an acupuncturist and graduated from Japan Central Acupuncture and Moxibustion College, where he obtained his license to practice Shiatsu, Acupuncture, and Moxibustion. His second career as an acupuncturist started in a clinic in Tokyo, and was strongly influenced by Master Fukaya’s moxibustion (moxa) therapy. Master Fukaya used mostly moxa for any disease and symptoms, rarely acupuncture, and became the best known “Master of Moxa.”
After years of rigorous studies and treating numerous patients, he decided to go to the United States in order to pursue his career globally and study more from a different point of view. He came to California in 2004 as a foreign student and completed a Masters degree in Oriental medicine at Emperor’s College.
At Evolve Wellness Center, Toru is practicing Japanese style acupuncture and moxibustion based on his practical clinical experiences in Japan, and studying Master Nagano-Kiiko’s acupuncture style as well as continuing Master Fukaya’s moxa treatment techniques, as well as studying classic Chinese texts.
