Licensed Acupuncturist

Barbara Seymour, L.Ac., is a licensed acupuncturist in the State of California. She has a unique knowledge of both Chinese and Japanese acupuncture and more than 20 years experience in the field.

Barbara started what turned into a lifelong study of acupuncture in 1985. This inspired her to move to Asia to gain first-hand experience of acupuncture in its original culture.

After attending the National University in Taipei, Taiwan to study Chinese language and culture, Barbara moved to Japan where she lived for eight years and earned several certificates in acupuncture. She holds a 3-year certificate from the Edokai Acupuncture Institute and a 3-year certificate from the Goto Clinic of Ryodoraku Acupuncture in Yokohama, Japan. After returning to the US she completed a Master’s Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Barbara is currently a research associate at the California Institute for Human Science in Encinitas, CA where she teaches Acupuncture Theory as part of the graduate school program. She is a member of Acupuncturists Without Borders and with John Convey organized a volunteer relief effort for licensed acupuncturists to serve evacuees and emergency workers at disaster relief sites during the 2007 Southern California wildfires.
